Ayan, a formerly religious freelancer from NYC grappling with a big decision, decides to embark on Arbaeen: an 86km pilgrimage/walk in Iraq, from the city of Najaf to Karbala. The Mokeb (guesthouse) that they stop at along the route serves as a place of rest and reflection. Or so it should.
